Welcome!

We created this blog so you all can connect with each other before, during and after your internship with us at BioLumina. We hope you will take the time to get to know one another a bit before your first day and use this as a tool to stay connected and continue your friendships after the summer is long gone.

We will be updating the blog on a regular basis to show what progress you have been making throughout the summer.

A reminder about the logistics:

* Start date: June 14th (9:30am)
* End date: August 5th
* Monday – Thursday (you are off on Fridays)
* Location: 75 Varick Street (Varick and Canal in TriBeCa)
o 6th floor and ask for Adrian Buendia
* Attire: A casual yet professional appearance is what we are looking for. Khakis and a polo are just fine, suits are not needed. Don't wear anything you wouldn't wear in front of your mother.

We are thrilled to have you part of the BioLumina team and we are looking forward to a great summer!

Next year, I will continue to be at Penn finishing a Masters also in Bioengineering. I am originally from a small town in Mexico called Torreon. I am not sure what my plans are after graduating, but I definitely want to stay in the States to work for a couple of years before going back to Mexico. Some of my hobbies are doing yoga, pilates, playing the piano, cooking and reading. I recently bought a guitar and I want to learn how to play it. I am very excited about beginning this internship at BioLumina and I look forward to meeting all of you!

Bio: James Underwood

My name is James Underwood. I will be a senior at Columbia University next fall, majoring in English Literature. After high school, I worked for in the non-profit sector and for Apple for a few years before returning to college to complete my degree at Columbia. When I'm not studying, I pursue interests in film and theater; I've performed in ten productions over the last year.
